Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered? (Isaiah 49:24, KJV)
To be lawful means to be permitted by and a captive means a person who has been taken prisoner.
From the above definitions, we can freely say a lawful captive is one who have permitted his or herself to be taken a prisoner.
A man that does some household jobs for me came visiting one day, and by the unction of the Holy Spirit, I told him to do away with everything that does not glorify God in his possession. About 2weeks later, he came and told me that he had a demonic soap he got from a spiritualist the day he came to my place and how shocked he was that I made mention of it, knowing nobody knew he had it. He also told me the series of challenges he had, only for us to discover his father had dedicated him to ogun; lawful captive!
How can you be the devil’s property and expect to be fine knowing very well that the devil is evil?
There are different forms by which people become captives and I can assure you that demons understand their rights as well, that is why during deliverance sometimes, stubborn demons would challenge back that their captives were sold to them by their fathers, great grand fathers, even self!
This generation is the worse as have seen in the history of mankind because we see how people on a daily basis, willfully sell themselves out to become captives. Some have become captives through sex, cultism, money, position, jobs, etc.
Whatever way you have become a captive, if you be willing, you shall be made whole!
