“Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?” (John 1:22, KJV)
What people call or think about you are mere opinions, not a reality. But what you call yourself is borne out of your conviction and beliefs about who you are, and therefore your reality.
In the passage above, John the Baptist had all the opportunity to lie by claiming to be Jesus Christ if he wanted, because neither the Priests nor the Levites knew who he really was, but he did not deny his identity or himself.
These days, a lot of people, youth and adults alike, and even brethren, have lost their true identity because they want to be like one celebrity or someone else and they forget who they really are and what God has deposited in them. Pretending to be someone else means losing your own identity, the you that God made, and of course your purpose.
Not long ago, I read of someone who spent a whooping sum of $85,000 just to have her lips look like someone else’s, thereby changing her originality into the counterfeit of someone else. God saw perfection in her lips before He gave her but she chose otherwise.
For some, they have lost the courage to move on in life because the trials of life have thrown big stones at them, thereby causing them to reconsider if truly they are what they believe is God’s true plan for them. They know they are unique but because it doesn’t look it, they begin to doubt who they truly are.
Dear friend, courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the silent voice at the end of your day saying, “I will try again tomorrow, then again tomorrow and again until I win the battle to live triumphant over all adversity”.
Hang in there, my dear friend… Keep pushing and keep pressing on… Take one day at a time because it is not over until you win. And no matter what you do, hold on to the original you because your identity is what defines you. But permit me to ask, “to live your life or to live like someone else?”
WHO DO YOU SAY YOU ARE?
Whatever the answer is, is what defines who you are.
I pray for you, child of God, whatever is stopping you from seeing and maximizing the potentials that God has deposited in you, is hereby terminated now, in Jesus Mighty Name!
You are blessed!
Prayer Point: Father, please take away anything that does not define who you have made me, in Jesus Precious Name. Amen!
