WHO ART THOU LORD?

And he said , Who art thou , Lord? And the Lord said , I am Jesus whom thou persecutest : it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. (Acts 9:5, KJV)

A Nigerian proverb says “person wey ask question no dey miss road.” Another one says “when you do not know where you are going, anyone is free to direct you.” And we know if that happens, one is bound to be misled or go a longer route than necessary.

Today people go through life without asking questions, questions that are vital for their daily lives. A lot of people go through life as each day presents itself without doing anything to change things. I once told a story of someone I knew who wanted to live a comfortable life but sees every opportunity that comes as not good enough, yet does nothing to get a job. We were all created for a purpose and to have a clear picture of that purpose we need to seek God; Matthew 7:7-8.

It is noteworthy to say that Paul was an ardent Pharisee, but when He encountered Christ the first thing he did was ask a question; “WHO ART THOU LORD?” Without waiting for an introduction from Jesus because he wanted to know.

Even our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, wanting to be sure His disciples knew who He is, asked a question in Mark 8:29;

And He said unto them, “But whom say ye that I am?”

Today a lot of people want the benefits that goes with serving God but do not want to serve the one that blesses. They want to go to church today and be blessed tomorrow, and if nothing happens within their time frame, they hiss and leave. But God’s Word in Hebrews 11:6 says;

“… For he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

We know that in science, when a research is being carried out, questions are asked. As Christians, the two core questions we ought to ask and diligently seek God about are:

1. Who art thou Lord? (Seek Him) 2. Why am I here? (Purpose)

From our reading, we see that Paul seeked Him and found Him, you can not afford to go through life as a nonentity. Seek God and seek His purpose for you today and you will find Him, in Jesus Mighty name!

It is well with you!
