Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself? (John 1:22, KJV)
One great mistake anyone can make is not knowing who he is. It is true that if you do not know yourself, you will end up living someone else’s life. This is true today as a lot of people, especially the youths, now live like and try to pattern their lives after those of so called celebrities, that some even go for “surgery” just to look, sound and then try to live like someone else.
John the baptist could have actually claimed to be the Christ. He seemed to have the qualities that people thought he was Christ and had to come and confirm from him to be sure. But he answered saying he is not Christ.
Today, even some born again Christians hide their identity and portray a different personality so as to be able to take part in some shady deals in their offices or businesses.
A very dear friend once said that as born again Christians, it is most important to declare our faith wherever we find ourselves, as doing so keeps us in check and we would not want to misbehave.
Remember, it is what you call yourself others will call you!
Even Apostle Paul understood the importance of his identity hence introduce himself accordingly; 1 Corinthians 1:1, Galatians 1:1.
The general idea is; stop living someone else’s life! Be yourself. No one can be a better you than you. You’re unique. The original, and no one can ever be you, whether now, in the future or will there ever be anyone.
Now that you know, what sayest thou of thyself?
It is well with you.
