UNDER GRACE?

For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. (Romans 6:14, KJV) Grace is the free and unmerited favour of God, as manifested in the salvation of sinners and the bestowal of blessings.

The subject of grace has been interpreted by many to mean man’s free will to do whatever he so desires because Christ has fully paid the price for sin on the cross.

Dear friend, the grace of God does not give us a blank cheque to continue in sin. It is rather, the power of God that is made manifest in the life of a sinner who has come to the knowledge of the saving grace of God and has received the salvation of God through His Son Jesus Christ to break free from sin and to consciously live to glorify God.

A man or woman living under grace is that man that no longer lives for self, whose life is now crucified in Christ and has resolved to make Christ the centre of his or her life for as long as he shall live on the face of the earth and is constantly walking by faith to please God by living righteously – Galatians 2:20.

It is also noteworthy to say that the grace of God is not a product of our works or self righteousness but a free gift from God as obtained by salvation through Jesus Christ.

Here is what Apostle Paul said in Romans 6:15: “What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.” From the above, can we say that living under grace gives us the liberty to continue in sin? Certainly not. HOW THEN DO WE WALK IN GRACE?

In 1 Corinthians 6:20, Apostle Paul has this to say: “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” And in Galatians 2:20 he said: “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” Which means the grace of God in the life of a man at salvation translates that man to become Christ like because his flesh becomes crucified at the cross, then and only then will sin no longer have dominion over you.

So then, should will continue in sin because we have grace in abundance? Think about it. It is well with you! https://samsonaboloje.wordpress.com
