Text: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16, KJV)
This is one portion of the scripture everyone quotes, but most people pay less attention to what it really says.
If we truly believe what the Word says, then we would indeed live by what is says.
Some Christians now believe and practise what they term “eternal security”. They believe once you confess Jesus Christ as your Saviour and be born again that’s enough. And that you don’t need to do anything more, forgetting that being born again is just the first prerequisite to make it to heaven and that’s why the Word of God says we should mortify the deed of the flesh as written in Romans 8:13, (KJV):
“For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.”
If we really don’t need to do anything on the flesh, Christ would not have said… go and sin no more. (John 8:11, KJV)
How then do we differentiate believers from unbelievers?
The Word of God says… but I have chosen you out of the world… (John15:19, KJV). We are in the world but not of the world, so we must be different from them in every way!
A child of a dog can never act like a goat, that is why the Word of God says we should separate ourselves and not act like those in the world, as written in Romans 12:2. It reads;
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
The Word also says;
“For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” (1 Corinthians 6:20, KJV).
The totality of our being must reflect Christ!
Brethren, please it’s high time for us to check our hearts and change our ways to the total will and submission of God, no one knows the exact time of Christ’s Second coming, so it is better we prepared now!!! As you prepare, you will not miss it in Jesus name!
Why not say this prayer:
Father! I confess and repent of my sins. Wash me clean with the blood of Jesus and make me fit for your Second coming. Take away from my path whatever will hinder me and lead me with your Spirit, in Jesus name. Amen
