HOW TO AVOID THE DANGER OF THE LAKE OF FIRE (CONTINUED)

3. CONFESS OUR SINS

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9, KJV)

This is one fundamental area that needs proper clarification.

Some brethren when leading new converts to Christ would say you can say it in your heart because God knows your thoughts. While I have no problem with that, I believe we must take personal responsibility for confessing whatever we know we have done, to the Lord by opening our mouths to say it. Besides, He already knows so why keep quiet?

For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. (Romans 10:10, NLT)

All men by default are sinners and have done a lot in time past, so after the Holy Spirit has convicted us of our sins, we must vocalize whatever we are asking forgiveness for by mentioning them. Remember …for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. (Matthew 12:34, KJV)

4. WE MUST AVOID SIN

Stay away from every kind of evil. (1 Thessalonians 5:22, NLT)

To me, I believe that the present day Christianity is under threat. Threat from secularism and hyper grace.

Some preachers of this age would not want to speak up for fear of loosing church members, thereby grooming those who claim to be saved yet are comfortable in their sins.

Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.” (1 Corinthians 15:33, NASB)

You cannot be saved yet enjoy sinful companies; you cannot be saved yet dress indecently; you cannot be saved yet do what unbelievers have no problem doing. We cannot continue in sin and expect grace to abound – Romans 6:1, 2 Chronicles 7:14 We must avoid sin at all cost, not matter its form.

5. WE MUST HUNGER AFTER THE THINGS OF GOD

Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. (Colossians 3:1-2, NLT)

Matthew 6:33 enjoins us to seek first after the things of God. We must consistently press on and keep pressing on because that is our ultimate destination. Quite interestingly, there is no graduation in the school of the Spirit that’s why Peter said in 1 Peter 2:2:

As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

Once we beginning to think we are now grown ups in spiritual matters, then be sure that falling is inevitable. That is why the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 10:12:

Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

Having done all of the above, it is important that we continue on the path of righteousness, that is why Ephesians 6:13-14 says:

…having done all, to stand. Stand therefore…

It is a fundamental requirement that we continue standing if our names must remain in the book of life.

I pray for you today that you will not fail God, and you will not fall off the heavenly race, in Jesus Precious Name!

Prayer Point: Father, anyway I have missed it, please restore me. Let my life bring glory to You. Remove my name from the book of death and write it in the book of life, in Jesus Precious Name.

REMAIN EVER BLESSED!!!
