THE BOOK OF RECORDS (Part 1)

And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. (Revelation 20:12, KJV)

In the bid to discredit the Christian faith, scientists are gradually affirming the faith.

A few years ago, I read about how a group of scientists in trying to disapprove the creation account as found in the book of Genesis ended up giving their lives to Christ.

In their report, they were stunned because they could not understand how the Bible could give a very clear detail of creation at a time when there was absolutely no scientific equipment to probe the outer space.

One of such conversion in recent years is that of Warner Jim Wallace. Born in 1961, Warner, a homicide detective in the United States of America and an atheist, has investigated high profile cold case murders and has won several awards in his career. However, he became a Christian in 1996 when he was investigating the gospel as a potential eyewitness account to the life of Jesus Christ.

WHAT AM I DRIVING AT EXACTLY?

Science, in a bid to discredit the Christian faith continues to validate it. Beyond that, science not only point us towards certain spiritual truths, they replicate some biblical reality, but sadly, we sometimes just gloss over them. One of which is SOCIAL MEDIA.

Using facebook as an example, you would have noticed that it reminds us on a daily basis of our activities of past years. Meaning that our every activity on social media is recorded. So also is our daily life, just that in this case it is God who does the recording, as it were.

Paraphrasing our anchor scripture, is says all our life’s accounts are documented in books. And 2 Corinthians 5:10 says”

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

There are times that facebook reminds us of some things that we posted in years past which we are no longer comfortable with and we simply delete them because they no longer define us.

So also is life, especially knowing that we will account for everything we do here on earth. But unlike facebook where we can personally delete past posts, only God has the ability to delete our sins, cleanse us and never remember or remind us about them anymore.

WHAT IS THE DANGER IF ONE’S NAME IS NOT FOUND WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF LIFE?

One would be totally cut off from God and cast into eternal damnation.

And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:15, KJV)

HOW TO AVOID THE DANGER OF THE LAKE OF FIRE.

1. REALIZE THAT YOU NEED HELP.

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13, KJV)

It is only the man that thinks he is beyond help cannot be redeemed. So like the man in Mark 9:24, we must realize that we cannot help ourselves and that we need God’s help.

2. WE MUST REPENT GENUINELY

Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away. (Acts 3:19, NLT)

Genuine salvation means separating ourselves from the world. Not the kind that claims to be saved yet maintain status quo with unbelievers.

This kind is borne out of an inner conviction that one is truly sorry for his actions and sincerely desires a change of heart.

For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death. (2 Corinthians 7:10, NLT)

There must be a separation between the one who has genuinely repented and the world, as prescribed by Romans 12:1-2.
