And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. (Genesis 3:6, KJV)
Our eyes are very vital organs of the body, as vital as they are, they can also make or destroy us, depending on what choice we make. From the bible, we see how the eyes got some great men in trouble, whereas some got their blessings because their eyes were single (focused). To get our blessings in life, we need to discipline our eyes! You don’t just look at anything or covet anything you see; subject your eyes!
Eve got herself in trouble by allowing her eyes wander where it should not. (Genesis 3:6)
Ananias and Sapphira “saw” that the proceeds from the sales were much and got greedy, hence lied. (Acts 5:1-11)
Samson, ordained to be a deliverer, never fixed his eyes aright, and paid with his life. Read Judges Chapters 14 to 16.
The above cases are lessons for us.
The bible also tells us about those who had their eyes fixed;
Jesus, our Lord and Saviour, saw where it was written of Him and focused on it and never deviated (Luke 4:17-22)
Abraham saw and God told him he would have it all. (Genesis 13:14-15) Jeremiah also did. (Jeremiah 1:11-12)
Look up to Jesus our Author and Finisher, then search the scriptures for where it is written concerning you. Remember Matthew 6:22:
…if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
And like Job in Job 31:1, make a covenant with your eyes.
In summary, Ecclesiates 11:9 says
Rejoice, O young man… walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that… God will bring thee into judgment.
From today, I know you will have your eyes fixed aright, in Jesus Name
It is well with you!
