This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. (Matthew 15:8-9, KJV)
I once had a discussion with someone on some fundamental issues of life, using the Word of God as a reference, and to my greatest surprise the fellow resisted, saying her heart has not condemned her. Some will even go further to say their pastors have not told them to stop those things, thereby making man’s own doctrine their standard!
It is also no longer news to say that spirituality is becoming a thing of the past in the church and activity becoming the new way of worship, even as some ministers have their own doctrine against what God’s word says.
I stopped by a friend’s office on Wednesday, and she told me how some of the instrumentals playing for the church came to her to say they will resign if their allowances are not increased. It was not surprising because these days we have a lot of activity individuals in church. They climb the altar of God to showcase their talents and afterwards, go back to the devil’s dinning table!
I knew a church where they had more than enough instrumentals lined up begging to play without money. But today, what we have is; no money no play!
Last week, I went to minister somewhere and the first choir lead singer that sang was filled with the Spirit of God as one could see it all over her. But the second that came up, came up for show, and everyone knew at once!
If your sole reason for your service to your church is monetary then forget any reward from God!
These days, people would rather pursue after secular things; worldly, mundane and carnal things which are totally against God and then come to showcase activities in church. The bible says; ” For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. (Romans 8:6.)”
And verse 7 says to be carnal is enmity with God.
What sort of service are you rendering to God?
Pause for a moment and think about it!
