SAVED TO SERVE!

saved-to-serve-001_edit

And the LORD spake unto Moses, Go unto Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Let my people go, that they may serve me. (Exodus 8:1, KJV)

One beautiful morning back in my University days, I left my place to go and make a withdrawal using the ATM that was on Campus, which was closer to me than the one in town. On getting to school gate I saw the place was rowdy, like something had happened. Upon enquiry I learnt armed robbers had invaded one of the banks (now defunct), that was on Campus. During the robbery, as I found out, one of the robbers shot into the air to scare students away but a stray bullet hit a male student on the leg (someone I know in person). After recovering from his hospital bed he declared for the highest student office on Campus; the SUG President, using the slogan: “SAVED TO SERVE.” And of course at the end of his tenure we did not know if he served the students or himself.

Also, a few days ago I was chatting with a dear friend who is one of the rising stars in journalism in Nigeria today. He used the picture of a friend and wrote: vote for him, he is a true servant. Then I humorously replied him: “a servant that will soon start driving jeep at the expense of those who will vote him in”, and we both laughed and joked about it.

But indeed, the above cases are what we do as believers, we cry to God to deliver us and help us out of the problems of life, and when He does, we quickly forget Him and carry on with our own agendas.

God did not save us to play by our own rules, but by His. As a matter of fact, He should have killed us the day we got saved, but He kept us alive to serve His government on earth. Every foreign ambassador to any nation is meant to serve and protect the interest of his own nation, not the interest of where he was sent.

Our reading says… Let my people go, that they may serve me.

And Psalms 118:17 says:

I shall not die, but live, and DECLARE the WORKS of the LORD.

Colossians 1:13 says:

“Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son”

We were SAVED to SERVICE God’s kingdom on earth so if we play by the rules of the world, then we would be guilty treason.

God saved you and I to serve Him and to show forth His praise on earth, so as you go about your day today, live in the consciousness that you are a heaven representative on earth, and at the end you will receive an ambassadors reward, in Jesus Name!

Please read: Isaiah 43:21, 1 Peter 2:9.

It is well with you!
