“Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation.” (Psalms 62:1, KJV)
Back in my growing up days I knew a man who had things going very well for him. He was that kind of man some of the young men desired to be like when they grew up.
Many years later, after I had gained admission to the University and came home during one of the holidays, I saw this man walking on the street. He had become the exact opposite of what we knew him to be that he used a rope instead of a belt, to tie his trouser.
I later heard that he was deceived to invest heavily in a business, and he lost everything he had, except his house.
The above story tells us how life could be some times; this minute things may be working perfectly and the next, out of a simple mistake, they could all be gone, just like that.
In life there are situations that causes our thoughts to run wild and then we begin to wonder if truly God remembers His promises for us.
Sometimes things can get so bad that we begin to wonder if we truly heard God at all, because like Joseph, instead of the promises to get fulfilled it is the opposite he was experiencing.
Things may really not look like what God has promised but the Psalmist said instead of being worked up, we should allow our souls wait upon God. Another version says TRULY MY SOUL FINDS REST IN THE LORD.
Psalms 94:19 says:
“In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.”
When the pressures of life comes pressing so hard, God expects us to delight rather in Him.
He wants us to stay focused on Him and not on what we are going through because He has not left us.
“When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.” (Isaiah 43:2)
One amazing thing about fire is that it refines us. So when God allows tough times our way, it is just Him using them to burn off those impurities from us so that when we come through, our testimonies will be visible to all.
After then, the man who was defrauded turned to God and became committed to the things of God.
There was hardly any church programme you wouldn’t see him attending, and not long afterwards when I saw him again, his life like that of Job, had turned for good.
Dear friend, what has life thrown at you? REST IN THE LORD!
Are things going the opposite of what God has promised? REST IN THE LORD because Faith is He who has called you and He will surely fulfill His promises for you, in Jesus Precious Name!
PRAYER POINT:
Father, please give me grace to go through every tough situation that you allow to come my way, in Jesus Name!
You are blessed!
