Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth. (Luke 8:22, KJV)
The battles of life are never ending until we get to heaven and it is our responsibility to contend with all the forces at war against us. Note that no country goes to war on behalf of another without the country at war being involved.
There are certain battles we fight in life that last longer than we thought they would and sometimes we tend to be discouraged, but the truth of the matter is such that we ought to face them with Faith and with relentless efforts until we win.
According to our reading, Jesus said …Let us go over unto the other side… Looking closely at what He said, we can deduce that there is another side of life that we ought to cross to. But verse 23 of the same chapter says;
“But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind…”
You see? The wind came when Jesus was asleep. So we are expected to always be at alert!
The devil came when Jesus was asleep because he knew the disciples had weak Faith and wanted to stop them from crossing over to the other side but they ran to seek help from the helper of the helpless because the had Faith in Him.
Without Faith you can NEVER win any battle and God cannot fight your battle if you do not engage them in Faith before seeking His support.
The devil also knew there was a man who needed the Masters touch on the other side and tried to stop his deliverance.
My dear friend, if the devil waged a war in heaven then your life is too small a place for him to fight. But thanks be to our God who has given us victory through our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
When the storm came, the disciples ran to wake Him up and He rebuked the storm and asked them a simple question; where is your Faith? Meaning there is no way we can win the battles of life without Faith. Little wonder the Word of God says that without Faith it is impossible to please God.
Faith is a great weapon in the hands of a believer, because with Faith we can quench not some but “ALL THE FIERY DARTS” of the wicked; Ephesians 6:16.
Having come to the realisation of this, take a firm stand of Faith and oppose every power of darkness contending with your placement in life, and as you do, victory is sure for you in Jesus name.
