For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; (2 Corinthians 4:17, KJV)
Sorry is a feeling of regret, compunction, sympathy or pity. And sorrow is the feeling of deep distress caused by loss, disappointment, or other misfortune suffered by oneself or others.
Deacon Matthew Ogieva once said some people so love to be pitied that come to you wanting pity. He also said there are those who have even more challenges in life but would never tell anyone because they hate to be pitied, instead, they see the opportunities within the challenges. And such is the man Jabez. Who can be more sorrowful than the man whose name his sorrow? Have you paused for a moment to look at the life of Jabez? He was born in sorrow, named sorrow, grew up as sorrow and lived as sorrow. Everyone that ever addressed him did so as sorrow. Interestingly, this man Jabez was more honourable than his brethren yet lived a sorrowful life.
And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow. (1 Chronicles 4:9)
But one day this man realised the meaning of his name and then ran to the One who is able to turn his sorrow to joy. The bible says… And God granted him that which he requested (1 Chronicles 4:10) But the request was granted after he realised: 1. That he needed help. 2. He was able to identify the One who can help. 3. He cried out desperately with all sincerity to his Helper. Then his breakthrough came.
I don’t know what you are going through. Maybe you have become a laughing stock because you tell people your story wanting sympathy. The God that change the destiny of Jabez and made it a glorious one is changing yours too.
Today, you are breaking free from sorrow to joy, in Jesus Name!
It is well with you!
