NEED A CHANGE OF NAME?

Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the LORD had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper. (2 Kings 5:1, KJV)

When I was growing up I knew someone who had a little growth on his throat and whenever people wanted to insult him, they add two throat to his name.

That is life for you. People tend to describe others by their physical features or afflictions that’s why you hear people say things like so and so person with a big head, big teeth, etc.

In the case of Naaman in our reading, after being described by his great achievements, the Bible says “… BUT HE WAS A LEPER.”

Also in Mark 10:46, Bartimaeus was described as being blind.

Even though he regained his sight decades ago in verse 52, we still refers to him today as “BLIND BARTIMAEUS.”

Whether you like it or not, that is just life for you. People tend to look out for ones affliction and use it as a reference to describe the person.

Look at Matthew 9:20:

“And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years…”

This woman was known by her neighbours to have been afflicted for twelve years but no one knew her name because they would rather refer to her as the smelling woman, the woman with the disease and so on.

Guess what. No single person in scripture with affliction that had an encounter with the power of God ever remained the same.

They were known by their afflictions and physical defects, but it was those defects that paved way for their testimonies and that is why we are reading about them today.

I don’t know what people have used to refer to you, or what name tag you have been given because of your physical defect or afflictions, if you desire a change of name, then you need to accept Jesus into your life.

As the smell of the woman with the issue of blood became her source of BREAKTHROUGH, so also will that source of reference become your source of breakthrough, in Jesus Name.

From today, you shall be called “BLESSED”, in Jesus Name!

Prayer Point:

Father, change whatever has been a source of ridicule in my life to my source of testimony, I’m Jesus Name!

It is well with you!
