And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. (Joshua 24:15, KJV)
Life by default leaves us with choices. Nothing we do in life is imposed on us. Whatever choice we make, be they good, bad, evil, praise worthy or not at all are all as a result of the choice or choices we make. But one undeniable truth that we often forget before we make our choices remains that some day, one day, whether we make the right choice or not, we will all give a “DETAILED” account of them all. The message of heaven and hell no longer interests us these days, all we want to hear is how to get rich quick. Shortcut to success strategies is all we want to hear. The world has turned some pastors to motivational speakers rather than gospel preachers. We have chosen fashion over virtue. Indecency has become the new normal. Greed and self centredness has become our focus for living.
I have had to answer funny questions on several issues of life, and often times these questions are asked not because the people want to make amends but to justify their reasons for doing what they do and when they get a contrary answer, some try to stir up arguments in their defense, and of course I simply ignore.
In the passage above, after Joshua had prophesied, the governing council as it were needed to make a choice.
In the Christian race, we are sometimes expected to make difficult choices, especially in these times that we live in.
In an article published on page 7 of the Guardian newspaper of Wednesday 8th October, 2014, Western scientists have finally agreed that there is life after death, which is one of the basic theme of most religion, but thank God Christianity offers a way back to God through Jesus Christ who was offered in our place to redeem us.
Dear friend, we will all stand to give detailed accounts of our lives someday, how will you face God? Will you tell Him you made your decisions based on His Word or based on the times you lived in? But don’t forget, we are all inexcusable. Please think twice and make a wise choice today.
It is well with you!
