HEAVENLY RACE!

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33, KJV)

The above passage tells us to seek God’s kingdom and His righteousness and all that we ever wanted will be added unto us. It is most regrettable to say that the world today do not recognise that there is a kingdom called heaven. It is known theoretically but people make no effort to get there.

To seek means to crave for with a passion and with all vigour and dedication; a burning desire to achieve something. Today we seek all other things and want heaven to follow us.

The account of Elisha in 1 Kings 19:19-21 tells us how to seek. Elisha was the son of a wealthy man as recorded in the scripture, but when Elijah cast his mantle on him, he immediately left and followed him.

Job was another man that understood what seeking heaven means that is why when everyone turned away he stood firm in his faith in God.

Hear him in Job 13:15-16;

Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him. He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.

Job understood how to run the heavenly race.

I once got a blackberry broadcast that marvelled me. The fellow said;

“God when the devil comes to you, please don’t ask him if he has considered me because you asked about Job and he suffered, I don’t want to suffer.”

People want to go to heaven but don’t want to leave righteously.

Jesus said in Luke 9:23:

… If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

The heavenly race requires “daily” self denial and self sacrifice; Colossians 3:1-3.

What are you seeking? Heaven or materialism?

Think about it!
