GIVING UNTO THE LORD!

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. (Luke 6:38, KJV)

From the reading above, it is obvious that in giving God blesses us in return. It is also important to note that the purpose of giving is “NOT” so that we “MUST” be blessed in return, but to meet the needs of those in need. In Malachi 3:10, the bible says:

Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in Mine house…

The purpose for giving is to meet needs and God seeing our sincerity in giving then blesses us in return.

But today we see a lot of people engage in “so called philanthropic gestures” after which they publish it in all forms of media so the world can say they have done well and then receive praises from men and miss the blessings of God.

See what the Scripture says:

I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive. (Acts 20:35)

And in the Words of Jesus Himself in Matthew 6:3-4, He said;

But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

Putting the above passages together, we are not suppose to broadcast to the world what we have done so as to receive their praises, but to do so in secret so God who sees the secret will openly reward us.

No wonder people criticise a lot of churches today because they do their giving in secret and those who announce to the world become the “good guys.”

Brethren, the purpose of giving is so that there can be meat in God’s house and “to support the weak” as Acts 20:35 says.

From today dear friend, when you give, give unto God (secretly), and not unto men, and He that sees in secret will bless you openly, in Jesus name!

It is well with you.
