In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (1 Thessalonians 5:18, KJV)
Thanksgiving is the act of giving thanks; grateful acknowledgment of benefits or favours, especially to God. If the above is true, then thanksgiving should not be only a daily attitude, but such that we do regardless of the situation at any given time, because the passage above says in “EVERYTHING”. Thanks giving as stated above is what we do to appreciate God for all His benefits, but today being Friday, after the close of work, a lot of people will head for clubs and beer parlour with the regular phrase; thank God its Friday posted all over Facebook and other social media’s and on getting to wherever they choose, they engage in all forms of ungodliness still believing they are giving thanks… well, they are, but certainly not unto God.
1 Timothy 4:8 says …godliness is profitable unto all things… which also means the absence of it leads to damnation.
Today being Friday, instead of going to pubs and places that will lead you into more ungodliness, why not sit back and take stock of all God has done for you and give Him thanks? In place of frivolities give Him thanks for the freedom He gave you through the blood of Jesus. For taking away frustration and giving you favour, thank Him. The Psalmist say in Psalms 103:1
“Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.”
Even if you forget to give Him thanks for anything, remember to give Him thanks for His faithfulness. Thanks giving provokes God to do much more for us. As you engage in thanksgiving today for all He has done for you, may you see His righteous right hand in all your affairs from today, in Jesus Precious Name!
