FROM SORROW TO JOY

“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;” (2 Corinthians 4:17, KJV)

Sorrow is the feeling of deep distress caused by loss, disappointment, or other misfortune suffered by oneself or others.

When in distress a lot of people love to be pitied rather than wanting encouragement, so they come putting up pitiable looks or attitude because all they want to hear from you is “eyaah”… “sorry”. But what they don’t realize is that there are those who have even bigger challenges but would never put themselves in a position of being pitied. So rather than look for sympathy, they look for opportunities within the challenges or how to break free from them. Such is the case of the man called Jabez.

Who can be more sorrowful than the one whose name is sorrow?

The young man was born in sorrow, was named sorrow and lived a sorrowful life until one day he realized that the meaning of his name wasn’t pleasant and lifted up his voice to heaven and cried for a change of story, and today, we read about his testimony.

In bible days it was important to trace the genealogy of families and when it came to that of the family of Judah, the author of the book of Chronicles thought it was important to emphasize the life of a particular man in their lineage whose life is a testimony unto generations and his name is Jabez because God turned his story around.

“And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.” (1 Chronicles 4:10)

Beloved, I don’t know what that unpleasant situation in your life is, I decree, the same God that answered Jabez will answer you, in Jesus Name!

I pray for you, the Lord God Almighty who made Jabez the envy of his generation will make you a star in your generation, in Jesus Name!

I curse anything that represents sorrow in your life, in the Name of Jesus!

You’re are breaking forth from obscurity to limelight, in Jesus Name!

You joy comes now, in Jesus Precious Name!
