A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. (Proverbs 18:24, KJV)
A friend is someone we love, respect and trust. Someone who understands our past, believes in our future, accepts us just the way we are and can go any length for our sake.
No wonder after man fell from his original place meant for him at creation, God in His love, looked at man in his sinful state and expressed His love;
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8”
Love is not just expressed by words, but a driving force from within.
He gave His most priceless possession, Jesus Christ, for us; a true expression of friendship and love.
A foe is an enemy, an adversary, and opponent and a rebel. The devil has been a rebel from the very beginning; 1 John 3:8, 1 Peter 5:8.
How do we know if we are God’s friends or foes?
First, God commands us in John 14:15;
“If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
Obedience means respect.
And in 1 John 2:15 He said;
“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”
1 John 2:3 says; “And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
If you claim to be friends with God yet you still talk and use slang like people in the world, compete with the world over materialism, live, dress indecently and act like them, then I’m sorry friend, stop deceiving yourself, you are not God’s friend.
How do I know?
“Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you… 2 Corinthians 6:17”
It is a command that we separate ourselves from worldly things and set our gaze on heavenly things.
Now ask yourself the question; AM I REALLY GOD’s FRIEND OR HIS FOE?
