“Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?” (Matthew 18:21, KJV)
I have heard people say in anger that they will never forgive someone who have wronged them and true to their words they bottle that person up in their hearts.
Some go as far as having “BLACK BOOKS” where they document their offenders.
Have you ever wondered how much we sin against God yet He chooses to forgive us?
Isaiah 64 verse 6 says:
“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”
What if God decides not to forgive us anymore knowing that it is in our nature to sin?
In Matthew 18 verse 22, Jesus said we should forgive seventy seven times, meaning to keep forgiving without giving a thought to offense.
The earlier we learn that forgiveness is for us, the better, because the fellow who offended us most likely have forgotten and have moved on but the one who have vowed not to forgive will be the one still hurting. So what’s the need? Forgive and move on!
Beloved, some reasons not to forgive may sound very logical but in God’s eyes we are inexcusable. Besides, forgiveness gives you peace and helps you live without the burden of the hurt and pain.
Why not forgive those who have wronged you today and see how peaceful your soul would become?
May the Lord heal you of every past hurt and pain, in Jesus Precious Name!
PRAYER Point:
Lord, I receive grace to forgive without counting it against those who hurt me, in Jesus Precious Name!
You are blessed!
