But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness unto him; neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. (1 Corinthians 2:14, KJV)
Only a mind that is ready to be foolish for Christ’s sake can understand spiritual things because they cannot be understood by the natural mind. That is why some suppose educated men and women these days try to propound theories to prove there is no God and at the end of the day they become fools. In 2 Kings 7 when Elisha said “… Tomorrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.” The Professor said, even if God opens the windows of heaven it will not happen, but at the end he saw but did not taste of it.
It is also true that some believe God lives but do not believe certain spiritual practices like why we have to wage war against spiritual forces, the use of anointed handkerchiefs, anointing oil and so on, that they call the believers mad people, and that is exactly why the carnal man cannot understand the things of God because it is foolishness to them.
In Mark 11:14 when Jesus cursed the fig tree, a man that holds a doctorate degree in Botany would laugh and say it is not scientifically possible to kill a tree that way, but Christ did!
Today, if we see a man speak to the weather and say “rain? seize from falling,”people will laugh and say see mad man. But in Mark 4:39 Jesus spoke to the storm and it obeyed.
And in John 9:6, Jesus spat on the ground and made clay with which He anointed the eyes of a blind man to restore his sight.
All the above cases cannot be rationalised by the carnal mind because they are all foolishness to him. But the truth remains that to tap into the spiritual, we have to forget our degrees, achievements and sense knowledge and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the mysteries behind God’s Word to us and He will.
As you align yourself with the Lord henceforth, may He reveal to you that which only He can.
