Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. (2 Timothy 2:22, KJV)
Defilement means to pollute or to corrupt the purity, chastity or perfection of someone or something.
The world has experienced a massive explosion of secularity as have never been seen in the history of mankind and this have given birth to beliefs, theories and ideas, which most of it is to gratify man’s own selfish desires, thereby laying aside God’s laws which are suppose to be our guide through life’s journey.
It is also true that in this rapidly changing world where a lot of folks have forgone their right to God’s inheritance to enjoy the short time pleasures which secularity offers, there are still those who would stop at nothing to live godly lives.
Biblically, Daniel was one of such.
“But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank… Daniel 1:8”
Some brethren, in the bid to join in the global trend for lewdity would make excuses for sin. Am I saying genuine believers do not sin? No! They do, but they do not make excuses for sin, neither do they cover it. They admonish it and cry for mercy, and God in His love hears them. Demas, a fervent Apostle and companion of Paul in Colossians 4:14. In 2 Timothy 4:10 had followed the trend of this world. But Abimelech in Genesis 20:5 realised his error and said
… in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this.
When we get defiled by sexual immorality, stealing, lies, etc, God expects us to open up to Him, confess and receive mercy.
I do not know which area you have been defiled, but if you run to God, He will restore you!
Receive grace to live above defilement in Jesus Name!
It is well with you!
