ETERNAL SECURITY!

hqdefault

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17, KJV)

The message of hyper grace or once saved forever saved is gradually becoming the new trend, especially amongst the youth. And the level at which it is spreading like wildfire is even more alarming.

This doctrine teaches that once you are saved, then you are already sealed to make heaven, even if one continues to live in sin.

Not long ago I was having a discussion with someone and he said that we are in the dispensation of grace so no matter what we do or how we live, Jesus Christ has paid it all by His finished work on the cross and as such they do not matter.

While I agree with him on the truth that Jesus has paid it all on the cross, it is a lie to say that there is no need to work on the salvation that we have received through the finished work of Christ:

“Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” – Philippians 2:12

The problem with this generation is that they want everything in quick fixes. People no longer want to study God’s Word. They want someone to come and tell them what they want to hear rather than what God said.

Jesus speaking in John 5:39 says:

“Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.”

So it is our responsibility to search to confirm the authenticity of the message we receive. No wonder Acts 17:10-11 speaking about the Berean Christians says they were more honourable because not only did they receive the Word with all readiness of mind, but that they also took responsibility in searching the scripture to confirm the authenticity of what they have received!

If you search the scriptures, you would know for certain that the doctrine of eternal security is a sham and a deception of the devil to cause many to continue in sin thinking they are still on the right track.

Hebrews 10:26 says clearly that if we wilfully continue in sin after we have received knowledge of the truth, then there remains no more sacrifice for sins. (Paraphrased)

How then can we claim to be saved yet continue in sin, claiming that Jesus has paid it all?

Even Jesus Christ, in John 8:11 speaking to the adulterous woman, as she is called, said “… go, and sin no more.” He could have as well said: go, my grace has covered thee. But He did not.

In John 5:14, after healing the man that had been plagued with infirmity for Thirty Eight (38) years, warned him that if he returned to sin, something worse would happen to him. So why did grace not cover for him?

Apostle Paul, being led by the Spirit of God rhethorically asked if we should continue in sin that grace may abound? The answer is simple: God forbid!

Now see what he said in chapter 5 and verse 21:

“That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.”

What the above means, is that the grace of God can only reign through righteousness and not through sin because the wages of sin is death – Romans 6:23.

The Bible, God’s infallible Word, is a perfect text and was tried in fire seven times – Psalms 12:6. So how can we justify sin using grace as an escape route?

Jude 3 says:

“Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.”

We must contend to sustain the faith that we have received and not allow any wind of doctrine toss us to and fro like sheep without a shepherd.

It is my prayer therefore that God will restore you if you have been carried away by the doctrine of “once saved forever saved” or eternal security. And if you have not, may His saving grace that reigns only through righteousness continue to sustain you, in Jesus Name!

It is well with you!
