And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more. (Genesis 37:5, KJV)
It is important to know that dreams are not dreams when they are not backed by actions. Dreams without an action is wishful thinking.
Dreams are our mental pictures of a preferable future state. Dreams are the mental pictures that stirs our vision into reality. Dreams are when we catch a glimpse of our future in the now.
A man with a dream fantasizes about it and communicates it bold and with excitement. A dream you cannot communicate is a mere imagination.
Joseph never made a mistake to have talked about his dream, but his mistake was that he shared it with the wrong people.
There are people in life whose goal is to discourage people from doing anything good because they have no goal of their own. In life’s journey, we need to weigh our friends; do they have a focus? Where are they going? What are their values? What are their drives and what do they want to make out of life?
Until certain people are cut out of our lives we will remain at a spot because they consciously or unconsciously influence our lives and we know these people when we associate with them.
For instance, until Abram parted with Lot God did not give him his inheritance because Lot was an excess baggage in his life.
Take note, God had to make sure he had a vision before he made a declaration;
And the LORD said unto Abram… For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever. (Genesis 13:14-15)
So if Abram had not seen anything, he would have gotten nothing.
The key points here are;
1. Separate yourself from people without goals, values and purpose.
2. Create a mental picture of a preferred future state in your mind; see your future in your mind and work with God to bring it to pass.
God expects us to have a clear picture of what we want in our mind’s eye and then speak them to life; Romans 4:17
May the God open your mind’s eyes to catch a glimpse of your glorious future that your faith in Him may be stirred up, in Jesus name!
