For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief. (Proverbs 24:16, KJV)
Downfall of a man they say is not the end of his life and indeed this saying is true. It is also said that failure is not when we fail, but when we fail and refuse to try again.
The Christian race is not exempted from this. Often times in our heavenly race we fall, but God expects us to get up, dust off and continue as though our lives depends on it; and it does.
Let’s use Peter as a case study. In Matthew 16, Jesus asked who the people thought he is and they gave different answers, and He turned the question to Peter who said He is the Christ. See what verse 17 says;
“And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.”
Now look at Mark 14:68
“But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew.”
The same man whom God revealed the mystery of Christ to still denied Him.
But there came a time when Peter stood up and said No! And he stood up boldly in Acts 2:14 and declared to the world that though he fell, he will not remain on the ground;
“But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words.”
I have heard people use their backgrounds as excuses for failure, but the truth remains that no excuse is good enough for failure.
A failure is not the one that failed, but the one who failed and gave up and decided not to try again for fear of failing.
Everyone fails at some point, and failure is a good opportunity to try again.
