Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. (Matthew 7:6, KJV)
Pearls are highly valued gemstones and objects of beauty and have become something rare, fine, admirable and valuable. And Jesus, knowing we have more value than pearls advised us not to cast them before swines.
While pearls are precious, swines on the other hand are unclean and very dirty animals and biblically, demons are unclean spirits; while dogs are referred to as those that are not God’s own; Mark 1:23, Mark 5:2; Revelation 22:15, Matthew 15:36.
Going by the passages above, what Jesus was simply saying is that we should not pitch our tent with the ungodly; dogs, in other not to give the swines in their lives room into ours so they won’t rend us because our lives are worth much more than pearls that is why Jesus died to secure our worth.
Imagine a child of God entrusting his secret to the hands of an ungodly. What does such fellow expect in return when light and darkness have nothing in common?
When a child of God lacks the understanding of who he is, he goes out to give his virtue to dogs and cast his pearls before swines and then his challenges multiples.
You might have sold out to sexual compromise, lies, cheating and a whole lot of other negative vices, I make bold to tell you that God still restores if you let Him; Isaiah 1:18-19, Job 22: 23-24.
Dear friend, I don’t know what your challenges are, but you’re still very precious to God; a gem of inestimable value, so if you have cast your pearls before swines, return to Jesus and He will help you.
