DESTINED FOR GREATENESS

It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger. As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. (Romans 9:12-13, KJV)

The life of Jacob is a very interesting one such that even before his birth it was fortold that the elder; Esau, would serve him; Jacob.

And the Lord said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger. (Genesis 25:23, KJV)

Later in their lives, Esau, working to bring the fulfilment of the prophecy of Jacob’s greatness to pass without knowing decided to sell his birth right for food.

While some would also argue that Jacob stole Esau’s blessing, I believe that having sold his birth right to Jacob, then the blessings of their father became rightfullyJacob’s.

Even when their father Isaac was going to bless Esau, somehow he suspected that it was Jacob yet went ahead to bless him nonetheless.

“And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father; and he felt him, and said, The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.” (Genesis 27:22)

If a man would walk the path that God has destined for him, God would push people and circumstances to work in their favour and that was the case for Jacob.

Why did their father bless Jacob in place of Esau when he suspected it was Jacob?

The answer is simply because Jacob was destined to rule over his brother and it was through him that the nation of Israel should be born. – He was destined for it.

Even when he was running from being killed by his brother, Esau, he was still having encounters with God because the destiny of the man who truly desires to serve God can never be denied if he gives in to God’s plans and purposes for him, no matter the situation and circumstances. – (Genesis 28:10-15)

There is no future for the man who values food more than his destiny and that man was Esau. He would rather eat away his future for temporary satisfaction. But he was lucky to still receive crumbs in place of the real deal.

True, some times destiny may be delayed by certain circumstances and events but if we truly purpose in our hearts to serve God, it will surely manifest at the end.

“If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.” – (Job 36:11, KJV)

But our service to God must never be on tbe basis of being blessed but out of a genuine love and service to Him. And at the end, it will speak.

I pray for you today, this week and beyond, may God cause men and circumstances to work in your favour, in Jesus Name!

You are blessed!
