Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding. (Proverbs 23:23. KJV)
Is it not amazing how the world claim to want the truth when in all sincerity they don’t? They say the truth is bitter because the truth is often painful but really needs to be told. Some claim they already know the truth but live in lies and we know that light and darkness can never meet.
The truth in the case is Jesus. John 10:10 says Jesus is the truth and most people say they want Jesus or they already have Him in their lives but do not want to let go of their past.
2 Corinthians 5:17 says:
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
Which means when we accept the Truth who is Jesus Christ, not only should our lives reflect it, but we must not trade it for anything in the world, no matter what! That is why Apostle Paul in Romans 8:35 asked the question “what will separate us from the love of God” and went on to list them. What he was invariably saying is that we should buy the truth and hold firm to it.
How much can I buy the truth and from who can we get it?
The truth is sold for free:
“Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. – Isaiah 55:1”
And it can only be gotten from the one who is the truth Hself if we truly desire it; John 1:12, John 3:3, John 10:10.
Note that Isaiah said we have to thirst for the truth. I pray that God gives you the grace to live in His Truth even as you thirst after it henceforth, in Jesus Name. Amen!
