BRIDLE YOUR TONGUE!

But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; (1 Peter 1:15, KJV)

In this age and time that we live in, the use of certain words, even in church, is becoming so alarming. Some of these words have almost become normal to certain people, to some it is okay and to a few, it can never be a part of their vocabulary.

Prior to now, when someone does what is not accepted to some people, we hear things like; he messed up! But today, what we are most likely to hear is; he f**ked up! Funny enough, even brethren in the household of God have also tapped into the trend of the world that when you call their attention to it, what you are likely to hear is; abeg! Your own too much! Na you first born again?! For not wanting to be insulted, those who do not share in such trends try to mind their businesses in other not to be insulted.

See what the reading above says; … “be ye holy in all manner of conversation.”

I wonder how a lot of those who use such words would feel if their Pastor, standing on the altar says; men! That guy f**k up! Well, a lot won’t see anything wrong because they can accept anything and try to defend it.

James 1:26 says;

If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.

Meaning we would only be deceiving ourselves if after being born again, still think we can say whatever we like when we like. We must only talk when necessary, using the right words always.

Colossians 4:6 says we should season our words with grace. How then would the world differentiate us from them if we use same fowl languages as they do?

I pray that henceforth, even as we call to mind that fact that God wants us to be holy even in our conversation, that the grace to do so will abound for us, now and always, in Jesus mighty name!
