Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.(Isaiah 43:18-19, KJV)
Back in the days when GSM phones just came to Nigeria and owning one was the vogue, I remember a friend’s brother who is based abroad, sent a few used mobile phones to Nigeria for them to sell, and possibly use some for themselves. After the phones were sorted, they discovered some could not be used or sold because they had some faults so they gave them out to those who wanted them, as wastes of course.
I showed interest in acquiring one of the phones and a friend who had gotten some of the bad ones gave me one and said I could pay if satisfied with it. I remember struggling with it because the phone would come on this minute and go off the next minute not knowing he knew it was bad. So one day I strolled to my friend’s place and while we sat outside gisting, the guy whose brother sent the phones looked at me and said:
“that phone no good. Trowey am. If you continue dey use am, you no go determine to buy a good one.”
That word struck me! I tossed it and indeed in no distant time I got a very good Nokia 3510i for a very ridiculous amount from a friend who needed some money and wanted to part with the phone.
That is exactly what we do sometimes. We hold on to those things that no longer serves us, yet we just keep struggling with them instead of letting go. Some are struggling with their careers yet will not let go. Some are battling with businesses and some with relationships that should have been history in their lives by now but they would rather keep struggling.
God, speaking to us through the passages above, categorically states that we should let go of those things that no longer serves us because He wants to do a new thing in our lives for which we would know that He is at work in us but because man by nature is not subject to change, would rather struggle because he is in his comfort zone.
The above story is to encourage someone reading this message to let go of those things that no longer serve. Breaking from our comfort zone may not be easy but our ability to pull through is what makes us victors.
Dear friend, you are more than what you are struggling with. You do not have to struggle where God has made adequate provision for you if you will let Him. Therefore, it is my prayer for you that the grace to break free from everything that no longer serve you be released upon you, in Jesus Name!
It is well with you!
