BEING FRUITFUL WITH LESS EFFORT!

Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. (Luke 5:4, KJV)

When it comes to fishing, it will interest you to know that fishermen do not let down their nets, they “cast them.”

What is the difference between casting a net and letting it down?

To cast a net means to throw with force while to let down means to drop slowly.

Peter was a renowned fisherman who was not only skilled at his craft, he knew the rudiments of fishing. I believe when Jesus Christ said to him; “Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets”, Peter must have thought to himself; does he know what he is saying? Does he not know that I am a professional fisherman?

And he replied Jesus saying; …we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. Meaning “if I, a professional fisherman have toiled and caught nothing, you should know nothing can be caught therefore. But to prove to you that there is no fish to be caught today, I’ll do it.” Then he reluctantly let go of the net.

What Peter did not realize is that the One who created the earth will not have any problem calling all the fishes He created to assemble at his net.

So also are some people today. They think they have come to that point in their lives that they need to make decisions against God’s counsel. Even when the Spirit of God ministers to their hearts to do something else, they would say we have toiled all night and have caught nothing, so we want to try another means.

Verse 8 tells us that when Peter saw the miraculous, he feel to his face in recognition of the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Let down your net also tells us that to be obedient to God delivers to us fruitful results with less effort than when we struggle with Him.

Letting go and letting God is sometimes the most difficult thing to do but the end result is always priceless if we let Him.

Personally, I believe it is always better to follow God’s way even when it difficult than to follow shortcuts and still end up missing out.

What has God asked you to do that you are still holding firmly to, not wanting to let go? Or what are you battling with thinking it is time for self help?

Isaiah 1:19 says:

If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.

I pray for you, child of God, whatever has been causing you to engage in fruitless efforts is hereby terminated, in Jesus Name!

Why continue to struggle when you can let God?

Why not hand it to God and see how fruitful it can be with less effort?

Prayer point: Father, I hand it all over to You and I ask for Your mercy for wanting things done my way. From today, Lord, let Your will alone be done, in Jesus Precious Name! You are blessed!
