For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Ephesians 6:12, KJV)
There is a story in history of the war between the then Roman empire and the United Kingdom. The Britons knew the Romans were coming to invade their land by sea so they laid an ambush in wait for the Romans, but to the utter amazement of the Britons, the Romans set their boats on fire when they got to the shore, meaning there is no looking back; we would rather die fighting than going back without conquering this land. And that is warfare.
The Christian race is a call to warfare and not funfair but most importantly, it is a call to righteousness and spirituality.
Hebrews 4:11 says;
Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
Labour means to exercise or constrain one’s self towards getting something done.
Christians these days, due to secularity, do not want to hear that. They believe in being liberal, and liberality in its totality negates God will for us as God expects us to hold firm to the doctrine of His Word; Romans 16:17.
I know a deacon of a particular denomination who does certain things that are contrary to God’s Word, and his excuse was; you need to relax, you’re too spiritual.
In one of his message, a dear friend of mine and an Apostle of Faith said;
“Righteousness is the lifestyle God marks right.”
And it is true because righteousness is a call to war against the power of darkness that tries to exhalt themselves against the knowledge of God.
I dare to say that “CHRISTIANITY without SPIRITUALITY means CALAMITY!
Some Christians have been swept away from their Faith due to their secular or liberal stands and have began living the exact opposite of the kingdom message but think they are still standing.
Like the story above, we need to come to a point in our lives when there is a steer in our hearts and we say NO! And then make a radical but positive decision towards changing certain things the world calls normal and be abnormal to the world for Christ’s sake because SPIRITUALITY is the only cure of CALAMITY.
From today, may our God and Father give us the wisdom to make the right choices, in Jesus name!
