Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this. (Genesis 20:5, KJV)
One of the major issue ravaging the world today is the “BLAME GAME.”
Every man wants to be innocent of the damages he has done to himself. Rather than accept responsibility for our actions, many people would rather look for someone or a situation to blame for their ineptitude.
If you look closely, you would see that many of the people that lack the well withal that life provides are those who at one point or the other refused to take responsibility for their actions.
The passage above tells us of a King called Abimelech. He saw Sarah, Abraham’s wife and liked her, but in the sincerity of his heart he really did not know that she was Abraham’s wife and when God said he was going to die, rather than play the blame game by telling God that Abraham denied Sarah, said… in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this. He accepted responsibility.
Bishop David Abioye once said; those who “blame remains lame”. And that is the truth. Rather than accept responsibility, they look for an excuse!
It is true that there are forces in contention with us, but it is our responsibility to fight back!
There is a man in Judges 11 called Jephthah, he was born an illegitimate child as it were and was dispossessed or his inheritance, soon Israel needed someone to save them from oppression and this supposed illegitimate child led them to war. But soon enough they deserted him and he said something quite remarkable in Judges 12:3:
“And when I saw that ye delivered me not, I put my life in my hands…”
He took responsibility!
Dear friend, if you expect someone else to take responsibility for you, then you would have made the worse mistake of your life.
From today, accept responsibility for your actions, run to God and the same God who delivered Jephthah and other mighty men as written in the scriptures from their enemies will deliver you too, in Jesus Name!
It is well with you!
